Hello My Amazing People!!!!!!!!
Trust that you are Good!
Your Favourite Ajala is back from Egypt where she had an amazing time!!! You definitely might need to watch the highlights from my lovely trip here if you have not .
I spent a total of 10 days in Egypt and got to visit three cities and I would be writing about my experiences in each city starting with the great city of Cairo . I had wanted to do a solo trip but as at the time of travelling and writing this post, getting visa as a Nigerian individually was very tough and I found a group trip which had visa included in a package and I jumped on it .
I flew on Egypt Air’s for 5hours 50 minutes flight from Lagos directly to Cairo and it was a smooth flight and I had the entire row to myself which made me enjoy my impromptu sleep throughout. A sticker visa was issued on my passport upon arriving after which we headed to the hotel , had dinner and slept as we got into Egypt very late at night .I must add at this point, that after going past immigration, our passports were collected by our agent in Egypt, as we were informed that it was for security reason. We also had a police throughout our stay in Egypt . (It is well with Nigeria! )
TOUR OF CAIRO
The Next morning right after breakfast, I was ready to explore Cairo and get to see at least one of the seven wonders of the world . My first stop was to the Egyptian Museum which is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display and the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company, Garozzo-Zaffarani, to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in Africa.
From the Museum, we visited the Great Ancient Pyramids of Giza which is one of the seven wonders of the world and a place I had been looking forward to visiting . Here you would find a lot of tourists who were also eager to visit just like I was . The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they have historically been common as emblems of Ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. They were popularized in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was listed by Antipater of Sidon as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is by far the oldest of the Ancient Wonders and the only one still in existence.
Upon entry, I was informed that the best way to move about was to go and a horse carriage tour . A very important tip to remember when visiting the pyramids is to use enough sunscreen, have your sunglasses and also have a hat or scarf with you . I did all of this and still got burnt, so imagine if you don’t do any, the sun is not friendly. I absolutely enjoyed the horse ride, took pictures and left the Pyramid Complex .
My next stop was to the Egyptian perfume palace where I got to sample a lot of perfume oils after which I visited the Egyptian Papyrus institute where I learnt about Papyrus which is a material similar to thick paper that was used in ancient times as a writing surface. It was made from the pith of the papyrus plant, Cyperus papyrus, a wetland sedge. Papyrus can also refer to a document written on sheets of such material, joined together side by side and rolled up into a scroll, an early form of a book. Papyrus is first known to have been used in Egypt , as the papyrus plant was once abundant across the Nile Delta
You can listen to the full explanation of the papyrus here if you are interested in knowing more .
I returned back to my hotel, had dinner and slept .The next day , I travelled to another city which I shall be sharing in my next post!
See you guys on my next post. Chao!
Have you been to Cairo before ? If you have not , would you like to visit ? Please share your thoughts with me in the comment section .
