THE SPOTLIGHT FEATURING AMARACHI EKEKWE

Hello Amazing People,

Happy post-Independence Day to my dear Country.

I am quite excited on this post as I have an announcement and I hope you are excited just like I am when you hear the news.

Here we go!!! I am starting a new series on the Blog which would be called THE SPOTLIGHT WITH DIUSOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the Spotlight, I would get to have an interactive session with an amazing person whereby the person is the spotlight on the blog at that time. It must not necessarily be a blogger or travel enthusiast; it would simply be someone I find or someone who visits a location and is willingly to share information about his/her visit. If you are interested please feel free to reach out to me.

For the first edition of The spotlight with Diusor, the spotlight is on Amarachi Ekekwe the amazing lady who is a  systems engineer by day and super hero writer by night. She loves to travel although doesn’t quite enjoy the actual process of it.

I had an Interactive session with Amarachi and this was about our conversation

Question: CAN WE GET TO KNOW YOU?

Response: Hi, I’m Amarachi. I like to refer to myself as an ‘introverted extrovert’ who loves to travel and write fiction. I run a travel blog at www.travelwithapen.com where I share my personal travel adventures as well as tips to help my audience travel cheaper and differently.

Question: WHY DO YOU TRAVEL AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DO SO?

Response: Simply because it makes me a better person. With every trip, there’s always a lesson to be learned. I also like the confidence travel brings me, I like having friends all over the world. I like to challenge stereotypes and change perceptions (including mine) about people, culture or tradition.

Question: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE DESTINATION AND WHY?

Response: That’s hard to say. All my trips have been unique and special in different ways. I loved travelling in Europe because it was just so easy to hop from one city to another. I stayed in hostels for the first time and have only good memories.

India was also incredible. I got to see the Taj Mahal and took my first ever animal safari which was very exciting. And then there’s Tanzania and the Serengeti – Amazing! Benin Republic was also amazing for many reasons. LOL, like I said it’s hard to pick.

Favorite destination I’ve never been to though, is probably Japan.

Question: WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT TRAVELLING?

Response: I especially enjoy the freedom it brings and the incredible people I get to meet. I also love seeing beautiful sites and having unique experiences that just takes my breath away

Question: IS IT TRUE YOU MUST OWN A LARGE BANK ACCOUNT TO TRAVEL AND HOW DO YOU AFFORD TO TRAVEL?

Response: I am of the opinion that you do not need a large bank account to travel however, I believe it’s important to put things in perspective. If someone loves travelling and they have a decent source of income or savings, then yes, you can afford to travel without having a fat bank account.

I find that a lot of people restrict travel to a destination. It’s not. If you’re open and flexible about places, then you will find that you can travel quite cheaply. Case in point, earlier this year, I took a trip across three countries with only N15,000. I have an account of that on my blog.

Question: ADVICE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE AFRAID TO TRAVEL ESPECIALLY WITHIN NIGERIA

Response: It’s perfectly normal to be scared. Just don’t let that fear overwhelm you. Despite the gloom and doom, there’s still a lot of happiness in the world. Go find it, go see it for yourself. Apply caution wherever you choose to travel, be that in Nigeria or elsewhere. Try to research about places if that helps to calm your nerves. Have a positive mentality and you will be fine.

I hope that you enjoyed this first post of The Spotlight and learnt something from Amarachi. You too can also be on the Spotlight just like Amarachi, simply reach out to me. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog, I really appreciate it. Do well to leave a comment, like the post and share with your loved ones.

Till my next Post, I remain your favourite Ajala!
